Why We Love It

In addition to being one of California’s oldest independent businesses, McAvoy O’Hara & Evergreen Mortuary is the oldest funeral home in the state. The original business was run out of stagecoach. Their continued service to the community has been commended by the city of San Francisco. In 1995, after the remains of 500 San Francisco pioneers were discovered on the grounds of the Palace of the Legion of Honor, McAvoy O’Hara offered their services to help orchestrate a reburial for the pioneers.
