How to Pay Tribute to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

With the passing of one known simply as RBG, we’ve lost a giant of tiny proportions, a fierce and brilliant legal mind, and a woman who fought her whole life to make our country better and more equal.

When someone so important dies, it can touch us in ways we couldn’t have imagined. Respect for their legacy may spark action or activism, or it may change the lens through which we view the world. If you’re feeling inspired to do something to honor RBG and the work she did for all of us, here are seven solid ideas.

1. Support a Cause That Mattered to Her

This CNN article features a number of organizations that were important to Justice Bader Ginsburg. A donation in her honor makes a beautiful tribute that has a real effect on lives and movements. 

2. Get to Know More About the Supreme Court

An educated citizen is a more active citizen.  Read the history of the court, and learn about how Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg became only the second woman appointed as a justice. 

3. Watch and Learn

Stream RGB, an excellent documentary about her life’s journey, including how she went to Harvard Law School as one of only nine women, and managed to end up at the top of her class while caring for a baby and a husband who had cancer.

4. Donate to the American Cancer Society

The Notorious RBG triumphed over multiple cancers herself, often working straight through chemotherapy and treatment. Making a donation to the ACS in her name will add resources to advance science and provide help to those fighting now.

5. Register to Vote. Confirm You’re Registered to Vote. And Then Vote!

Being an active part of our democracy is our favorite way of honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. With our election coming up soon, you’ll want to visit usa.gov to register right away if you haven’t, or to check that your registration is active if you think you are already registered. Then all you gotta do is exercise your rights and responsibilities--it’ll make RGB proud! 

6. Support Equality Wherever You Can

Justice RBG was a champion of equality. Find a cause or take an action that advances equality in your own community. That may be speaking up to management at your workplace to offer equal pay for equal work, or writing your state or local representatives to support legislation around justice reform or income disparity. 

7. Have a Laugh
